Patriotic tune in the style of French Grand Opera. Each French Grand Opera used a few types of 'numeros' they had to give to its audience, and the composers integrated them with their originality.

In this opera, Charles VI is defeated at Azincourt, the queen Ysabeau de Bavière is negociating with the ennemy. The king becomes mad (killing his friends), and the opera starts with his son, the Dauphin Charles (who will become Charles VII), hidden in the country. His friends, who do not know his page rank in Google, try to defy English soldiers singing :

"France hates slavery - when danger occurs, we can show our courage. Let shout for liberty - and victory will answer. Death to tyrans ! Never in France the English will rule !"

Not very good poem, nevertheless one keeps very well the musical themes in mind.

Disclaimer : Amateur recording (interpretation and sound). Moreover, I am playing and singing at the same time, which is not very helpful to do this correctly. It does not pretend to be an honest version of the score : it is only made to give some idea of rare repertoire. Not to propose a reference.
(And you will hear a very bad page turning in the middle...)
